Joy Hansson

Freelance photographer specialised in unit stills, behind-the-scenes photography and press and publicity images across international television productions, film sets, studio shows, live broadcasts and cultural and industry events.

Working as a unit photographer has taken me across Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the UK. I adapt quickly to different environments, crews and production workflows.

I love the combination of sensitivity and pace unit photography demands. It allows me to use my awareness of what unfolds on set, contribute to the creative process through narrative stills, and celebrate the people and work behind a production by documenting unique moments, on and off screen.

Before specialising in photography, I worked in a variety of roles for broadcasters, theatres and production companies, which makes moving through creative environments an intuitive process for me.

I shoot with Canon and Fujifilm equipment and capture unit stills, behind-the-scenes footage and publicity imagery silently during filming, documenting your production discreetly without disrupting the set.

Additional to my work on television and film productions, I create portraits, document events and make press and poster imagery for a diverse range of clients, including broadcasters, production companies, international film festivals, magazines, publishers, national sports teams, theatres, management agencies and cultural institutions.

For collaborations and enquiries, get in touch. I can bring my own lighting set-up to create portraits and editorial work wherever your project takes place. On some productions, I create additional digital content, including on-set podcast interviews and behind-the-scenes videos. I have also worked on standalone online creative productions as researcher, editor and interviewer. I'm open to discussing the possibilities for your project together.
